Complacency and self-preservation enable those harms and eventually threaten broader society. Philanthropy played a role in facilitating authoritarian projects tied to white nationalism, retreating from Black-led movements and Palestinian solidarity while prioritizing preservation of wealth and power. The consolidation of elite control requires urgent accountability, active resistance, and a rejection of cowardly preservation that sacrifices vulnerable communities.
