"He later said in a Truth Social post they'd agreed on "many things," with others "being very close to resolved.""
"Xi said he felt "warm" meeting Trump again and added that while the U.S. and China "do not always see eye to eye," they should be "partners and friends.""
""In fact, as I said once before during my first Administration, Farmers should immediately go out and buy more land and larger tractors," Trump wrote."
""The world today is confronted with many tough problems. China and the United States can jointly shoulder our responsibility as major countries, and work together to accomplish more great and concrete things for the good of our two countries and the whole world," Xi said, per Xinhua."
Trump and Xi held a roughly 1 hour and 40 minute meeting that began cordially, with Trump calling Xi a "friend" and "great leader" and Xi saying he felt "warm" to meet again. Tariffs on Chinese exports were announced to drop to 47% from 57%. Trump indicated plans to travel to Beijing in April and for Xi to visit the U.S. afterward. Trump posted that agreements covered "many things" and hinted at a "very large scale transaction" for Chinese purchases of Alaskan oil and gas plus "massive amounts" of soybeans, sorghum and other crops. Cameras withdrew before questions and markets reacted cautiously with futures largely flat.
