Michael Marx, 45, from Midland, Texas, was involved in a shooting incident Monday near the Washington Monument while positioned along Vice President JD Vance's motorcade path. Secret Service officers spotted Marx carrying a concealed firearm near 15th Street and Independence Avenue. When confronted, Marx drew his weapon and fired at an officer, striking a teenage bystander in the leg instead. Officers returned fire, hitting Marx multiple times in the abdomen, hand, and left arm. The bystander sustained non-serious injuries and was released from the hospital. Marx made vulgar remarks about the White House while being transported by ambulance. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced serious charges would be pursued for the gun violence incident occurring near government facilities.
