Sudan war enters fourth year as child hunger crisis deepens
""The reality for children in Sudan is growing darker hour by hour," said Eva Hinds, highlighting the dire situation as the civil war continues to escalate."
""Going through three years of conflict has had a massive impact on these children and women. Children's daily lives are shaped by news of death and destruction," stated Ashan Abeywardena, emphasizing the psychological toll on minors."
""Drones are killing and wounding girls and boys in their homes, in markets, on the roads, near schools and health facilities - all places that should never be targets," UNICEF's Hinds noted, condemning the use of drones in civilian areas."
""In the first three months of this year, nearly 700 civilians were reportedly killed in drone strikes," reported UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher, illustrating the scale of civilian casualties."
The civil war in Sudan, now in its fourth year, has led to a humanitarian crisis affecting millions. Over 13 million people have been displaced, and more than 4,300 children have been killed or injured. The conflict, which began in April 2023 between the RSF and SAF, has resulted in indiscriminate drone attacks targeting civilians. These attacks have devastated cities and destroyed essential infrastructure, including hospitals and schools, exacerbating the suffering of the population, particularly children and women.
