Fashion blogger La Carmina redesigned her 500-square-foot Vancouver apartment to showcase her personality, passions, and minimalistic style. Her decor is influenced by Japanese minimalism, focusing on high-quality, microplastic-free pieces. La Carmina embraces living in smaller spaces, drawing inspiration from her experiences in Asia. In searching for her apartment, she prioritized modern finishes and ample natural light, opting for a high-rise with tall ceilings. Her design aesthetic includes mid-century modern colors and materials, infused with a Japanese touch through elements like washi paper.
I stuck to MCM colors (orange, sky blue, wood, chrome, avocado green) and incorporated Japanese washi paper to enhance the aesthetic.
In Asia, tiny apartments and making clever use of limited space are the norm, which inspired my design choices!
