Helmers, who hails from South Carolina and has an educational background in textile design, grew up surrounded by antiques, which influences her work. After moving to Berlin and meeting Raczak, they embarked on a gradual renovation journey, showcasing their evolving vision through social media, leading to Helmers starting her own interior design studio as more people sought her expertise.
