Blockbuster sequels and new IPs continue into 2025–2026 with high-profile releases Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Resident Evil Requiem.
The October spooky season might be over, but there's one last jump-scare with the realization that 2025 is almost over. As we head into the endgame of the year, we're also looking at a month full of big releases like a pair of exclusives for the Switch 2, mind-bending puzzle-adventures, and novel indies that put a new spin on familiar ideas.
cheating happens in most popular multiplayer games, and with the surface area of Call of Duty being so large, cheaters were always going to find a way to do what they do. Now, Activision has shared some data points about cheating in the beta so far, led by the statistic that 97% of cheaters were stopped within 30 minutes of when they signed in for the early-access beta.
The beta started on October 2, and I got access and played a few matches. Yup, it's another Call of Duty, all right. It also plays a lot like Black Ops 6, which isn't a bad thing at all as that was a return to form for the franchise's fast-paced multiplayer. This time around, though, it does feel like I'm playing a Black Ops 6 expansion and not a new game.
Black Ops 7 launches on November 14, and the game is packed with 30 weapons, including 16 debuting for the first time in Call of Duty history. There are plenty of powerful guns and equipment to try, as we went over in our best BO7 loadouts guide but you'll also want to make sure you have the best perks to suit your playstyle.
Microsoft has announced another Xbox Game Pass price hike, with the Ultimate tier going up to $30/month. Microsoft is making this change just ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's release. For now, however, you can still get a one-month Game Pass Ultimate subscription for $20 at Amazon. Microsoft is making the price changes as part of a wider claim that it's giving people "more" than before to help justify the price hike.
Gamescom Opening Night Live was held in Cologne, Germany, and livestreamed digitally on YouTube and Twitch on Tuesday night. The show, which was hosted by Geoff Keighley, featured a host of new game reveals, trailers, and updates on upcoming games. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 got its worldwide reveal at the event. The game is set to be released on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation on November 14. Chinese studio Game Science, meanwhile, revealed the sequel to Black Myth: Wukong.
