Carlow Garda Superintendent Anthony Farrell is urging witnesses of the shooting to come forward to Gardaí immediately. 'As part of the investigation process, Carlow Gardaí wish to speak to anyone who was in the Fairgreen Shopping Centre or the vicinity of its carpark... in connection with the serious shooting incident,' said Supt Farrell.

Eyewitnesses described a moment of sheer panic as they saw the gunman, Evan Fitzgerald, who was reported to have taken his own life following the shooting.
