Spain's national weather agency, AEMET, has issued a red alert for parts of Cataluña due to an extreme risk of flash flooding from torrential rainfall. Rainfall is predicted to reach up to 120 mm in under four hours, posing serious risks, particularly in low-lying areas. The Depresión Central de Barcelona is notably affected. The regional protección civil service has activated the INUNCAT flood emergency plan advising residents to stay indoors and avoid travel as emergency services remain on high alert through the week.
