Bob Milano, an Oakland kid who played catcher at Cal and then became the winningest baseball coach in school history, has died. He was 85. Milano retired following the 1999 season with 688 career victories. He was inducted to the Cal Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004 and had his jersey number 7 retired by the school. The school confirmed Milano's death on Monday afternoon.

The Sox selected pitcher Anthony Eyanson from LSU at #87, who threw 6.1 innings in the College World Series, allowing three runs and striking out nine.

Kade Anderson was instrumental in LSU's win, pitching a three-hitter and striking out 10, showcasing his elite talent and propelling them within a win of the championship.

No team in this year's CWS field played in last year's tournament - the first time that's happened since 1957.
