Evan Lonsdale, a 24-year-old Brentwood resident, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree, resulting in a fire that engulfed the car.

The blaze reported in Los Altos Hills destroyed a building and disrupted traffic, prompting a quick response from the Santa Clara County Fire Department.

I woke up to yelling in the hallway. A few seconds later, there was a bang on the door. It was just after 2 a.m., and a state trooper in the hallway of our private living quarters at the governor's residence said there was a fire in the building. We needed to evacuate immediately.
