A county clerk in New York refused to file a civil judgment against Dr. Margaret Carpenter from Texas, protecting her under state shield laws for abortion providers.
The essential problem, in this case, in my judgment, is that PC [David] Hawkins simply took and applied the label which had been applied towards the claimant's alleged conduct (antisemitic') without ascertaining any of the necessary underlying facts which demonstrate, on an objective and dispassionate basis, that such conduct was in fact antisemitic.
"Authors cannot rightly exclude anyone from using their works for training or learning as such...to make anyone pay specifically for the use of a book each time they read it...would be unthinkable."
Tenants who were unlawfully locked in a kitchen while their belongings were being forcibly removed have successfully registered a judgment against the landlord's firm for €55,000.
"We appreciate GigSmart's willingness to come to the table early to find a solution that reclassifies these workers and provides them fair restitution," said City Attorney David Chiu.
