It's hard not to get into a funk now that summer is over: long gone are day festivals, sunny pub gardens and spontaneous day trips to the coast. But it's not all doom and gloom as there's much to love about autumn, which is set to be the most spectacular to date. One of the best parts about settling into the colder months is dusting off your scarf, leaving the house (yes, that's not just a summer activity) and making a beeline for a bakery.
The National Bakery Awards is a beast of a thing. This year 229 bakeries across the UK have been nominated for their brilliant bread (and assorted pastries and cakes), all of them vying to be named National Bakery of the Year. But who will rise to the challenge? Well, six of the nominated bakeries are in London, including Toad in Camberwell - which Time Out recently named London's coolest neighbourhood for 2025.
