Patents are notoriously difficult to search for, but Perplexity has launched an AI-powered tool that's supposed to make the process a little easier. Its new patent research agent allows you to search for patents using natural language, rather than a string of keywords. As an example, Perplexity says you can enter something like, "Are there any patents on AI language learning?" or "Key quantum computing patents since 2024," and Perplexity will return relevant results, along with AI-generated summaries of each one.
Yelp is releasing multiple AI-powered updates Tuesday, including an updated AI assistant that can answer questions about restaurants, bars, local attractions, or retailers. The assistant can also scan a physical menu to provide information about dishes. Additionally, the company is improving search with support for natural language and voice queries, and highlighting popular offerings on business pages, including auto shops, hair salons, clothing stores, and parks.
Consumers can type or speak detailed requests such as ranch-style house with a pool in Austin or 2-bed condos in Arlington and Alexandria near metro stations and receive instant, relevant results across all listings. Smart Search also supports searches based on points of interest, such as condos near CoStar's Arlington and Richmond offices, and includes speech-to-text functionality that lets users tap a microphone and describe what they're looking for aloud.
