BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn (PIX11) - A gunman suspected of killing his neighbor was fatally shot after he opened fire on NYPD officers in a Brooklyn apartment building Monday morning, police said. The suspect's bullet grazed a 25-year-old cop on the left side of his face in the first-floor hallway of the building at 1046 Thomas S Boyland St. in Brownsville at around 7:45 a.m., according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
Cops received a call from a father who said his adult son had robbed his mother and older brother at gunpoint at a residence around 9:16 p.m. on Van Nest Avenue, Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera said in a press conference early Friday morning. After responding to the scene, the father told police he believed his son had fled to a building near Paulding Avenue and East Gun Hill Road - sending police to barricade the residence, Rivera said.
A U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services officer was struck by a suspect in an off-road vehicle while attempting to detain him in Alviso. The officer fired a shot at the fleeing suspect's vehicle, but it’s unconfirmed if the bullet struck the subject. The injured officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was released on Sunday. The suspect remains unidentified and at large.
