Just after 5 p.m. Tuesday, a police officer and sergeant responded to an unrelated call on Countrywood Circle. During that call, the officer began experiencing symptoms and collapsing toward the sergeant asking for Narcan to be administered.

Every death of a garda is a tragedy for our society. Our police force is a rarity because the vast majority of our officers are unarmed... an attack on a garda remains regarded as an attack on society.
