One of Ireland's leading livestock marts was fined €4,250 for animal welfare breaches after a Department of Agriculture review was triggered by an RTÉ Investigates programme into the mistreatment of calves. The programme broadcast in 2023 was entitled Milking It and involved both photographic and video evidence of young animals being mistreated.
