In this movie, these are kids that just like, really despise each other, and they're going at it. For our characters, it's been, it's all we've known our whole lives. 'Oh, we don't like the Daywalkers.' Anytime you see a Daywalker, you blast them.

In horror fiction, a zombie is a human ghost or spirit "somewhere between living and dead, puppeted by external forces". This book explores real zombies in the natural world: organisms that lose control to exploitative parasites as seen in a tropical wasp that paralyses a cockroach, leading to its consumption by the wasp's young. This concept may extend to humans being susceptible to 'zombie bugs'.

Maya is introduced as a brand-new character in Zombies. Her journey primarily revolves around vengeance as she uncovers the tragic fate of her brother, Nathan, who has become a victim of Project Janus.

Since launching the North Yankton Nightmare mode, players have dispatched over 430 million zombies in just three days, surpassing the revised challenge goal of 800 million.
