Closure of I-680 planned in Fremont this weekend
Briefly

The southbound lanes of Interstate 680 in Fremont will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge and pavement repairs. Construction will begin at 10 p.m. and is expected to last 55 hours. Caltrans emphasizes the need for these closures to ensure safety, as work must be conducted without live traffic. Detours will redirect traffic through the Mission Boulevard off ramp. Additional work will continue at night until Spring 2026, involving pavement striping and barrier installation.
The closure near the Mission San Jose Overpass will begin at 8 p.m. Friday with all southbound lanes closed to traffic and work beginning by 10 p.m.
This work must be performed without live traffic to ensure worker and motorists' safety. Concentrating these operations during weekend closures will help reduce the overall duration and impact of the project.
