Explore the Wonders of New York Seafood at This New Brooklyn Raw Bar
"At Bar Susanne, Carnesi gets to focus on seafood sourced from New York waterways, taking her cues from the coasts of Italy, France, and Spain. 'It's not pushing the envelope too much with the type of seafood we're using,' she says, 'but more so trying to introduce New York to what's around here and what people are pulling in from close by, whether that's razor clams, scallops, mussels, or fluke.'"
"Carnesi's new role at Bar Susanne allows her to explore local seafood options, including steamed periwinkles, which are a rarity on local menus. The restaurant aims to create a unique dining experience by highlighting the freshness and variety of seafood available in New York's waters."
Chef Jackie Carnesi, previously at Kellogg's Diner, is now the co-partner and executive chef at Bar Susanne in Williamsburg. The restaurant, opening on May 15, emphasizes seafood sourced from New York waterways, inspired by Italian, French, and Spanish coastal cuisines. Carnesi aims to introduce local diners to seafood options such as razor clams, scallops, mussels, and steamed periwinkles, which are rare in the area. The venue is designed by Matthew Maddy and is located near Domino Park.
