WILLIAMSBURG - WHOLE FOODS MARKET announced on Tuesday that it plans to open one of its smaller-format stores, called Whole Foods Market Daily Shop, in Williamsburg on Wednesday, Feb. 25. According to the company, the 7,888 square-foot market, at 774 Grand St. and Humboldt Street, will feature fresh, seasonal produce; meat and seafood; artisanal cheeses; prepared food options, including hot rotisserie chicken, entree salads, sandwiches and breads; supplements; and specialties from New York-based suppliers, such as lamb merguez sausage from Brooklyn Cured.
Hundreds of hipsters in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, are gearing up to watch a rented groundhog whisper in the ear of ex-mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa in McCarren Park on Saturday to see whether they'll be getting six more weeks of winter. The loopy local twist ahead of Feb. 2, Groundhog Day's official date, is the brainchild of 26-year-old event organizer Riley Callanan - who shelled out $2,250 to rent the varmint from an animal rental service.

"It's not uncommon for the conditions surrounding," FDNY Deputy Assistant Chief Joe Duggan said. "You're in a smoke condition, and you're feeling the heat, and you're starting to feel some of the fire coming toward you. The victim felt his life was threatened and jumped as our units got on scene."
The restaurant's third outpost (following Detroit) opened in Williamsburg in October, bringing beloved fritas - french fry-loaded Cuban burgers popular in Florida - to New York, the hometown of chef and owner, Eve Aronoff Fernandez. The menu includes a range of burgers, from spiced chorizo (fritas are traditionally made with beef, pork, or both) to vegetarian black bean, all paired with batidos, tropical shakes in flavors like coconut cream and hibiscus.
"She ordered three entrees. My manager knew about the scam. He went over there and told her, 'Hey, you're not going to keep this food unless you have a form of payment.' She laughed at him," Ross, a waiter at the eatery told the Post, declining to share his last name. He added Chung was already seated by 5:30 p.m when he arrived. Video obtained by The Post shows Chung seated at a corner table in the eatery, shortly after posting pics on Instagram, before heading to the bathroom.
Throughout the run, the hotel's usually-glimmering bar transforms into a dimly lit shrine to pop-punk adolescence, complete with neon signs ("Taking Back Christmas"), black Christmas trees and a soundtrack built for sing-alongs. Drinks are just as committed to the bit, including the centerpiece "Welcome to the Black Parade," served (of course) in an ornament. The menu leans all the way into the mood with options like I'm Not Okay, Ocean Avenue Punch and Welcome Yule Call It.
The traveling craft fair, which pops up at locations around the city, is returning to Brooklyn Brewery (79 N 11th Street) next weekend, October 18 & 19. FAD Market (the FAD stands for fashion, art, and design) will set up both inside and outside of the building. "Browse a curated lineup of over 35 independent makers, artists, and creative small businesses while enjoying Brooklyn Brewery's award-winning beers on tap," says an event listing.
"We wanted to showcase our love, passion and deep appreciation for hospitality in its truest form," Burgos and Norton said in a statement. "The restaurant is a representation of our progression through this industry as women who embraced opportunities and experiences along the way. In its simplest form, it's a love letter to our community, hospitality and each other."

For Ong, the studio is the realization of a dream more than a decade in the making. After moving to New York in 2011 and spending years in the corporate world, she told Brooklyn Paper the dream of creating a Pilates studio never left her. "This has always been my dream," Ong said. "Ever since I started Pilates 10 years ago, it's been helping me. I always had that entrepreneurial spirit when I was [working] in corporate and I'm always into the health, wellness and fitness space."
Located at 196 North 10th Street between the Bedford Avenue L train stop and McCarren Park, Oberon features spacious retro seating and tables, mirrors, industrial windows, and walls adorned with vibrant art by Gerrard Deecey. The latter includes one piece depicting the Stonewall Uprising and other ones paying tribute to historic LGBTQ icons like the late trans activist Marsha P. Johnson and the late Brooklyn-born gay DJ Larry Levan.
