"Darren Irby, Red Cross' executive director for national partnerships, said, 'What Metallica and their fans have accomplished this year is truly monumental ─ inspiring people to give blood for the first time while also energizing teens and young adults about the donation process.'"
"Drummer Lars Ulrich said of the drive, 'We're thrilled the Metallica Family recognizes the importance of blood donation and didn't hesitate to rally behind this lifesaving effort. Their enthusiasm has made a real difference, and we're honored to stand alongside them.'"
The Red Cross and Metallica's All Within My Hands foundation have successfully collected over 40,000 blood donations since April 2025. This includes more than 25,000 donations in the US. The initiative has seen 16% of donors as first-time contributors, with nearly half aged 16-24, reflecting a growing trend among Gen Z. Blood donation stations were initially set up at M72 tour stops and expanded globally, offering unique merchandise as incentives. Both Metallica and the Red Cross have praised the impact of this partnership on encouraging blood donation.
