Ransomware scum leak patient data after disrupting services
Briefly

Kettering Health experienced a significant ransomware attack by the Interlock gang in May, leading to a data leak of 941 GB which possibly includes sensitive patient information. Following the attack, many chemotherapy and pre-surgery appointments were canceled, significantly impacting patient care. The healthcare provider reported a system-wide outage restricted access to patient care systems. Although Kettering Health confirmed a cybersecurity incident, the authenticity of the leaked data remains unverified, and the extent of the breach is still under investigation.
The stolen information appears to include ID cards, payment data, purchasing and financial reports, among a ton of other patient and staff details.
On May 20, the healthcare company disclosed a "system-wide technology outage" that "limited our ability to access certain patient care systems across the organization."
