Dave Roberts comments on dropping Mookie Beetts in Dodgers lineup
Briefly

Mookie Betts has been defensively strong but is experiencing his worst offensive season with the Dodgers, currently hitting .241/.311/.377. His wRC+ has decreased from 112 early in the season to just 50 in July. Manager Dave Roberts has considered giving him more days off to help him regroup mentally. While there is room for lineup adjustments, Roberts believes changing his batting position may not address the core mechanical issues plaguing Betts. Despite struggles, he remains unlikely to be moved out of the second spot in the order to preserve performance and consistency.
"I've thought about that, but in talking to Mookie, I just don't know if hitting him first or ninth, or anywhere in between, changes where he's at mechanically."
"I think ultimately it's more of, if I felt that a change, a different look in the lineup would help performance, I would do it."
