An Italian Sandwich Pop-Up Is Settling Down and Opening a Storefront
"It's pretty wild to me because this entire thing happened accidentally, I'm so grateful that it got to this point where I can now open a restaurant."
"I want it to feel like a modest spot in Italy, like a trattoria that's really comfortable - my favorite kind of places, where you can hear the clanking of silverware."
Salvatore La Rosa is set to open Salvo's, a new Italian eatery at 66-01 Forest Avenue in Ridgewood, originally selling sandwiches through Instagram. La Rosa transitioned from a career in graphic design and music to food delivery using a moped and later a mini truck. His vision for Salvo's includes offering a cozy, trattoria-like atmosphere, and the restaurant will feature about 20 seats with an expanded menu for lunch and evening service, including plans for a liquor license.
