Namel Colon has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for fatally shooting Jennifer Ynoa in a Brooklyn smoke shop. The incident occurred on January 2, 2022, when Colon entered Salim Smoke Shop and opened fire, striking Ynoa in the torso and killing her dog. Ynoa was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to The Brooklyn Hospital Center. Colon, who fled the scene, was apprehended on February 22, 2022, and initially charged with murder and weapon possession before pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter on June 9, 2025.
