"Bill was a lifetime golfer, a member of the Stanford University Golf Course, and a devoted fan of track and field as well as a star runner on his college track team. He was also an enthusiastic jazz fan, listening for hours to musicians such as Miles Davis, Johnny Smith, Carmen McCrae and Dexter Gordon. He and Loretta traveled all over the world to track meets, jazz festivals and on ocean and river cruises."
William Ernest Green moved to Palo Alto in 1971 from Rochester, New York, fulfilling his desire to live in California. He worked on the legal staff of Boise Cascade before founding William E. Green & Associates, practicing intellectual property, business, real estate and patent law. He frequently provided free legal services to non-profits and churches and remained in private practice until illness two years ago. He served on planning commissions in Rochester and Palo Alto, chaired the Palo Alto Red Cross and served on multiple nonprofit and corporate boards. He was a lifelong golfer, college track star, jazz enthusiast, and traveled widely with his wife Loretta.
