Many of the world's largest websites, including Snapchat, Reddit and Roblox, were knocked offline on Monday after a huge Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage. More than 1,000 apps and websites - including banks such as Lloyds and Halifax - were impacted by problems at the heart of the cloud computing giant's operations in the US, according to platform outage monitor Downdetector. It said reports from users of problems globally had soared to more than 6.5 million during the outage on Monday morning. While Amazon said it had resolved the outage by 12:00 BST, experts say it demonstrates the perils that come with lots of companies relying on a single, dominant provider.

New graduates are leaving college and heading into a tough labor market-entry-level roles are dwindling, managers are wary of hiring Gen Z candidates, and AI continues to automate more jobs. But Meta is actively on the hunt for fresh talent, and it's willing to pay the big bucks for the brightest young minds. The $1.8 trillion technology company has a few entry-level jobs on the market: a Full-stack software engineer, and multiple product software engineer roles.

Regardless of this year's stock market volatility, the explosive demand for semiconductors and microchips that has grabbed news headlines and led the market higher over the past few years remains. As the drive toward integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into our everyday lives progresses, a handful of mega-cap companies are capable of meeting that demand. While Nvidia Corp. ( NASDAQ: NVDA) may get the lion's share of attention, companies like Broadcom Inc. ( NASDAQ: AVGO) will also be playing a central role in supply.

TSM's growth story in 2025 hinges on artificial intelligence (AI) demand, which has transformed the company from a steady foundry into an indispensable AI enabler. Second-quarter revenue hit $30.1 billion, a 44% year-over-year jump that exceeded analyst forecasts. This beat stemmed from robust orders for advanced nodes like 3-nanometer (nm) and 5nm, which power Nvidia's GPUs and Apple's latest processors. Advanced technologies, defined as 7nm and more advanced technologies, accounted for 74% of total wafer revenue.

Intel has begun clawing back production from TSMC with the introduction of its Panther Lake processors, the company's first chip based on its long-awaited 18A process tech. The x86 giant began volume production of the processor's compute tiles at Fab 52 located at its Ocotillo campus in Arizona this summer, with the first notebooks and computers based on the SoC slated for release around the time of CES early next year.

According to internal documents viewed by CNBC, working remotely for even a single day will now count for a full week. "Whether you log 1 WFA day or 5 WFA days in a given standard work week, 1 WFA week will be deducted from your WFA weekly balance," according to a document that was circulated over the summer, shortly before the change went into effect.

It's important to note that this was all tested on the X2 Elite Extreme configuration, which comes with six additional CPU cores over the standard X2 Elite. A year ago, Google faced the prospect of being dismantled. Today, artificial intelligence (AI) and a new court judgment has helped it avoid this fate. Part of the reason is that AI poses a grave threat to Google's advertising revenues. "Google will not be required to divest Chrome; nor will the court include a contingent divestiture of the Android operating system in the final judgment," according to the decision.
