Brooklyn man drunkenly crashes into LI cop car, tries to bribe officers: police
"Chi Hung Leung, a 50-year-old Bath Beach resident, collided with a Nassau County police vehicle just before 6 a.m. Monday in East Hills, the county police department said Tuesday in an alert. Leung initially tried to speed away from the scene in his vehicle, but when that didn't work he took off on foot, according to police. However, he was quickly located nearby by additional officers."
""During the course of the arrest, the defendant did offer numerous officers money in exchange for his release," Nassau County police wrote in the alert. The crash occurred on the Long Island Expressway near exit 38, about 25 miles northeast of Leung's home in Brooklyn. At the time, Nassau County highway patrol officers were responding to an unrelated 911 call when Leung hit one of their vehicles, cops said."
A 50-year-old Bath Beach resident, Chi Hung Leung, collided with a Nassau County police vehicle just before 6 a.m. Monday in East Hills on the Long Island Expressway near exit 38. Leung initially attempted to speed away, then fled on foot, and was quickly located by additional officers. Investigators determined he was intoxicated and he was hospitalized for treatment of his injuries. The officer whose vehicle was struck was also hospitalized and expected to recover. During the arrest Leung offered officers money in exchange for his release. He was charged with DWI, leaving the scene, three counts of second-degree bribery and two counts of fleeing and arraigned Tuesday.
