The journalists of Agence France Press reported on the plight of the last ten journalists in Gaza, all freelancers, due to Israel's media restrictions. The situation for these reporters is critical, especially for Bashar, their principal photographer, who expressed his inability to work due to weakness. Gazans face a humanitarian crisis with intentional starvation, as Israel blocks aid while a large supply sits in warehouses. The UN has warned that 2.1 million people are at critical risk of famine, exacerbated by violence during food distribution by a U.S.-backed NGO, leading to numerous fatalities.
The starvation of Gazans is intentional. There's currently enough food to feed 1 million people for over three months sitting in World Food Programme warehouses outside Gaza, but Israel has blocked all humanitarian aid from entering since early March.
On Saturday, Bashar wrote on Facebook, 'I no longer have the strength to work for the media. My body is thin and I can't work any more.'
The United Nations warned more than two months ago that the entire population of Gaza—2.1 million people—was at 'critical risk' of famine, and that risk has only become more severe.
Since the GHF began distributing food at the end of May, 1,054 people have been killed while approaching GHF distribution sites.
