Caroline Wanga, Target's former chief diversity officer, commented on Target's recent changes to its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategies. She emphasized that the company has not walked away from DEI initiatives but instead has trained staff to adopt inclusive behaviors, which become ingrained over time. Wanga dismissed the backlash surrounding DEI labeling as a distraction, asserting that the actual work of fostering inclusivity remains unchanged. Target's CEO acknowledged internal concerns about inclusivity in light of conservative criticism and adjustments to its offerings, further complicating its public image.

The fight over DEI as a label is more of a distraction than real substance. Do the work, leave the letters.
