Batliboi Studio successfully converted a raw, never-lived-in loft in Brooklyn Heights into a two-bedroom, two-bathroom home. Architect Hormuz Batliboi emphasized functionality and aesthetics by creating a raised floor to house plumbing and electrical utilities. The project featured custom furnishings, including a vibrant green shelf that reflected the client's love for curves. Retaining historical details, like hefty wooden beams and exposed ductwork, highlighted the loft's original character, while new wide-plank oak flooring added a modern touch.
"Wonderful, big, wide, open space that had never been lived in, with only a single bathroom and awkwardly located gas and plumbing connection."
"The big trick was creating a stepped-up raised floor in part of the loft to improve layout, adding both functionality and aesthetic appeal."
