The event, hosted by Merchants of 3rd Avenue, started last year as a 'Star Wars'-themed walking tour of the nabe's most beloved pizza joints. Participants voted for their favorite slice, and the winner was crowned by choice of the voting public.

The Scandinavian East Coast Museum sponsors this annual event, held in advance of the penitential season of Lent, which is observed in many Lutheran countries, including in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Lent begins early this year, on Feb. 18, which will be Ash Wednesday. Bay Ridge carries a rich Scandinavian history dating back to the immigration waves of the mid-19th century and again post-World War II.

BROOKLYN, NY - Police are seeking two suspects who robbed an 18-year-old man after threatening him and simulating a firearm earlier this month in the Bay Ridge area. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on November 15 near 85th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway, according to the NYPD. Investigators said the victim was approached by two unidentified men who demanded his belongings and pretended to have a gun.
After a Republican primary marred by voter fraud, the general-election race for an open City Council seat in Bay Ridge and Coney Island is competitive-and both candidates view it as an indicator of what the changing district's voters actually want. A burglar broke into 2 Brooklyn businesses. Police say the first incident happened on Sept. 21 at just before 10 p.m. The thief entered the building of a Planet Fitness on 86th Street on Bensonhurst through the roof. They stole $450 from the register and escaped back through the roof. Then a few hours later, at 1 a.m., they broke through the door of a business on 86th Street in Bay Ridge.
