Gentle yoga can be more challenging than vinyasa due to its slower pace, which increases awareness of physical and emotional experiences.
"I can't do yoga because I'm not flexible." These might be the most damaging words in the wellness world. And yet, so many people say them-and believe them. But here's the truth: a gentle yoga for beginners practice has absolutely nothing to do with flexibility. In fact, when you approach yoga from the perspective of breath and muscle activation-as we do in the AYAMA™ method-you begin to understand that real yoga isn't about stretching at all.
Staying mobile as we age isn't just about movement. It's about confidence - knowing you can get out of a chair without wobbling, walk across a room without reaching for support, or step into the shower without the fear of falling. For many older Australians, this confidence fades slowly. A bit of stiffness in the hips, a little less balance, muscles that don't recover the way they used to. Then one day it becomes easier to stay put than to get moving.
In modern society, it's considered *super* normal to strive for things outside of yourself. Call it hustle culture or rise-and-grind-either way, you're told to constantly reach for a promotion, a new car, or a fancy espresso machine (to fuel all your ambitions, ofc). This isn't a bad thing. Setting goals and challenging yourself can teach you discipline and dedication-not to mention it feels really good when you achieve them.
