Kappo, a new 12-seat Japanese restaurant, is slated to open on Dec. 2, according to a news release. Kappo is owned by Omakase Restaurant Group, the team behind San Francisco's Michelin-starred Niku Steakhouse and recently opened Prelude. The intimate, open-kitchen restaurant is helmed by executive chef Nikolas Neuwirt, who has worked at SF's Niku Steakhouse, Prelude and Birdsong, as well as in kitchens in Denmark and France.
We've been big fans of Whole Beast, run by Sam & Alicja Bryant, for a while (we loved the food at their residency at New Cross pub The Fat Walrus and we've been following their many pop-ups) so we're very excited that the pair have found a permanent home for it. Whole Beast, as you might be able to guess from the name, is all about using every part of the animals they get in, and cooking all that meaty goodness over live fire.
