Marc Guehi is unavailable for Manchester City's Carabao Cup final against Arsenal due to EFL regulations.
Marc Guehi scored his first goal for Manchester City as they progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a nervy 2-0 victory over Salford City at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola's side had routed the same opponents 8-0 just over a year ago and demolished League One outfit Exeter City 10-1 in this season's third round, but they were made to work by Karl Robinson's team, who are sixth in League Two.
Liverpool fans made their feelings crystal clear at Anfield today, greeting Marc Guehi with a chorus of boos as his name was announced in the Manchester City starting lineup. The hostile reception, as reported by James Pearce, marked Guehi's first visit to Merseyside since his high-profile transfer saga, with the Anfield faithful evidently holding a grudge against the defender who slipped through their fingers.
I said to the club, they have to ask, definitely. I don't understand the reason why he cannot play in the final in March, when I have been here for a long time. The rules to buy a player depends on Fifa, Uefa, the Premier League who say, OK the transfer window is open, when you buy a player you have to play, no? It's logic. Of course we are going to try [for] him to play. Pure logic.
Every player has got his price, Palace did very well to hang onto him in the summer when they turned down that late move to Liverpool on deadline day. We know Oliver Glasner is determined to keep hold of Guehi, he's such a key man for him, he's the club captain as well. Crystal Palace have resigned themselves to that [letting Guehi leave for free] as well that they are happy to keep him and let him walk out on a free as well. So unless City do come up with a big big offer which is too good to turn down, I don't think Palace will be in any rush to let him go.
Man City are negotiating with Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi but it's not something done. It's not something agreed. Don't forget about Bayern calls. Don't forget about Liverpool calls. The situation is moving around Marc Guehi because Bayern and Liverpool are tracking this opportunity for the summer transfer window. Liverpool internally believe that it's going to be difficult to do the deal in January.
Manchester City have confirmed that Josko Gvardiol has suffered a serious tibial fracture to his right leg, dealing a significant blow to Pep Guardiola's side at a crucial stage of the season. The Croatian defender will undergo surgery later this week, with the club stressing that it is too early to place a clear timeline on his return to action.
