The Paley Museum is hosting the PAC-MAN NYC Chompionship 2026 tournament on May 16, celebrating 45 years of PAC-MAN with prizes and events.
The show traces how a simple yellow circle dreamed up in Japan in 1980 by designer Toru Iwatani grew into a global pop-culture heavyweight. From early arcade cabinets to living room consoles and far beyond, PAC-MAN redefined what video games could be, while still welcoming in first-time players. At the exhibition, visitors can jump straight into the action with classic Pixel Bash arcade cabinets, competitive rounds of PAC-MAN Battle Royale Chompionship and newer titles like PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC .
The bulk of the cereal, which first hit the market in 1983, was made up of orb-shaped sweetened corn puffs that looked a bit like Pac-Man himself, without the missing slice that is his mouth. To sweeten things further, the cereal was studded with colorful mini marshmallows in the shape of Pac-Man and the ghosts from the game - Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde. Some later iterations of the cereal also featured marshmallows in the shapes of both Ms. Pac-Man and a larger Super Pac-Man.
The Atari 2600+ Pac-Man Edition is more than just a console, it's a tribute to the moment home gaming truly began. By reimagining the iconic hardware in Pac-Man's unmistakable style, we're celebrating the legacy of two cultural giants who helped define a generation of play. We're proud to bring this collaboration to life for collectors, fans, and a whole new wave of retro gaming enthusiasts.
