After 21 years of being lost to the annals of video game history, Acclaim Entertainment is back in the game with a new focus on indie developers. Today, the first-ever Play Acclaim Showcase highlighted nine games that are already part of the new Acclaim's portfolio, including a few that are available to play right now.

When Hollow Knight: Silksong announced its September 4 release date, other games ran for the hills. Indie titles like Demonschool, Baby Steps, and Little Witch in the Woods all picked up their skirts and dashed away into the depths of September to avoid trying to compete with the massive attention Team Cherry's sequel was certain to receive. But not Atari. No, those brave folks decided to stick to their guns and plans, and released tough-as-nails 2D Metroidvania Adventure of Samsara on the very same day.

The indie developer Akunaee has shared a short animation from an upcoming game called FlestFest in which every frame is hand drawn.

In line with the rest of this season's games, which have consistently been really solid, they're both pretty damn fun.

Paradox Soul, a free-to-play Metroidvania game on Steam, features Dr. Alli Rose navigating a test facility filled with secrets and robot enemies.

Many of the upgrades in Revenge of the Savage Planet are unlocked via story progress and are required to complete the game. However, there are some optional improvements you can make early on that'll make a difference.
