Gardaí are keeping an open mind about the circumstances in which Gus Dempsey (77) died outside Bandon. A post mortem examination will be conducted at Cork University Hospital and Gardaí said its findings will determine the nature of their investigation.

"The man, aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to University Hospital Waterford for a post-mortem examination, the results of which will determine the course of the Garda investigation."
