A mother is pleading for justice after her 13-year-old son was stabbed in the back in Brooklyn last week. Police said what started as kids throwing objects at passing cars ended with a violent assault. "He did not deserve what happened to him" Dyasia Perez said on Oct. 19, her son was with a group of friends in East New York. "One friend out of the group of children decided that they wanted to throw a rock at a car," she said.
Michael Mangan, who once led the Lawrence Police Department's Special Operations division, was indicted Tuesday on two counts of deprivation of rights under color of law and two counts of false report, according to the indictment. The accusations stem from a 2023 incident in which Mangan allegedly attacked Sodiq Amusat, 29, as he was being booked. Amusat filed a civil rights lawsuit following the alleged assault, which was captured on a surveillance video recording, according to the complaint filed in federal court.
A man was slashed across the body early Tuesday morning in Bed-Stuy, police said. According to the NYPD, a 58-year-old man was near 997 DeKalb Ave., near Stuyvesant Ave., just after midnight when he was attacked and slashed with a knife.

A man is on the run after attacking a woman in her Upper West Side home on Sunday night, a police spokesperson told West Side Rag. The attacker broke into a woman's apartment around 10:15 p.m. near Amsterdam Avenue and West 64th Street, before choking her and punching her in the face multiple times, police said. He then grabbed the woman's keys and fled the apartment in an unknown direction, NYPD added.

A man died Tuesday afternoon after he was brutally beaten at the Jay St.-MetroTech subway station in downtown Brooklyn, cops said. A young woman is being hunted after a man in his 60s miraculously survived being pushed onto the tracks at a south west London train station. Officers responded with paramedics and found the victim on the line. His female attacker, in her 30s, made off down the tracks before the emergency services arrived. She is described as white, with blonde hair, was wearing a grey coat and distinctive black bobble hat at the time.

North Tonawanda, NY - A brawl inside a Webster Street restaurant spilled into the street early Sunday, ending with gunfire and a large police response, according to the North Tonawanda Police Department. Officers arrived at 58 Webster Street around 2:51 a.m. after reports of shots fired and found a man on the ground outside the restaurant. Investigators later determined he had not been struck by bullets but had been injured in a physical altercation.
