SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- The family of a man who died during a trip to San Jose is suing the hotel, alleging the hot water in the shower scalded him to death. The man was visiting in May to attend his granddaughter's graduation. It happened at Marriott's Fairfield Inn and Suites San Jose Airport, according to a lawsuit obtained by ABC7 News. The wrongful death lawsuit says 77-year-old Terril Johnson of Riverside was exposed to scalding hot water, measuring 134-136 degrees Fahrenheit.

Advocates warn of ongoing isolated ICE raids after an undocumented immigrant was detained in front of his San Jose home Saturday despite the Trump administration calling off the mass deployment of federal agents in the Bay Area earlier this week. As NBC Bay Area reports, federal agents with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement approached Gerardo, 42, in his driveway as he was leaving for work at 7:45 am Saturday, which was captured on the family's Ring camera (included in the below video clip).

A jury returned a guilty verdict Wednesday against 77-year-old Sital Singh Dosanjh, following a two-week murder trial for the Sept. 30, 2022 killing of Gurpreet Kaur Dosanjh in broad daylight outside the Walmart on Almaden Expressway. A guilty verdict can never bring back Gurpreet or erase her family's pain, but it does bring a measure of justice that can hopefully help her family find closure, Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Malinsky said Friday. This conviction acknowledges the truth of her murder and recognizes that Gurpreet's life mattered.

"The adult male suspect and the adult female victim were in a verbal altercation when the suspect brandished a firearm, causing the victim to fear for her life," she said.

The incident happened around 12:50 a.m. on Sept. 2 in the 400 block of Minnesota Avenue, near Willow Street, San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih said in a news release Tuesday. Officers arrived at the scene to find evidence of a shooting but no victims, Shih said. While investigating the incident, officers located a pair of victims a man and a woman and their car, which was riddled with bullet holes, Shih said.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- A man who was violently assaulted at a Valley Transportation Authority station in San Jose has succumbed to his injuries and died, leading to possible murder charges for the suspect in custody, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said Thursday. Deputies initially arrested Brandon Fryshaw, 23, after a late-night fight at the Gish VTA light rail station in San Jose on Sept. 29, according to the Sheriff's Office.

A man's body was found at Independence High School early Thursday, prompting a police investigation into how he died and why he was on the grounds, authorities said. An unconscious man was discovered at the North Jackson Avenue campus just before 7 a.m., according to San Jose police. Both police officers and San Jose fire personnel responded to the scene, and the man was pronounced dead.

The assault was reported just before midnight Sept. 29 at the Gish station at East Gish Road and North First Street, and responding deputies with the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office which polices Valley Transportation Authority transit lines found a 42-year-old man suffering from serious head injuries. An investigation determined that he had been severely beaten, and he was taken to a hospital. The sheriff's office said that he died around 11 p.m. Wednesday, 10 days after he was injured.

The crash was reported at 5:35 p.m. after a woman driving a silver 2007 Ford sedan heading west on Rancho Drive took a left turn onto southbound Monterey Road, according to the San Jose Police Department. That put her in the path of a northbound blue 2013 BMW coupe, and the two vehicles collided, causing the BMW to hit the center divider and cross into southbound lanes.

SAN JOSE Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found inside a West San Jose home early Sunday, authorities said. San Jose police officers were called at 2:49 a.m. to a home in the 900 block of Wainwright Drive, which is just west of South Bascom Avenue and north of Southwest Expressway, for a report of a possibly deceased person, according to the police department.
