This report lays bare the immediate and longer-term health impacts of racist violence. Last year's racist riots have left a deep scar, especially in communities already facing inequality, discrimination, and disinvestment.

Jada McPherson, 21, a Pace University student, described how she feared for her life when she was tackled and dragged to the pavement during a parking dispute.

"The suspect in the Grand-Combe case is being transferred today," said Cecile Gensac, the prosecutor for the nearby city of Nimes, where authorities are investigating the stabbing as "murder aggravated by premeditation and on the grounds of race or religion".
