The incident involved a car and an articulated lorry, resulting in the car driver, aged in his late teens, suffering critical injuries and dying at the scene.

The normal procedure if you are pulled over for speeding in France is to be given a ticket and allowed to continue on your way, unless your driving is judged to be dangerous or you are committing other driving offences such as driving without insurance.
