A 16-year-old boy died after falling 75 feet off an Interstate 80 on-ramp during a sideshow in Crockett, according to a Facebook post by the California Highway Patrol. Authorities at CHP's Contra Costa office received a call around 3:26 a.m. Saturday of a sideshow involving over 100 vehicles blocking the intersection of Pomona Street and Merchant Street near the entrance and exit ramp for I-80 westbound on Pomona Street.

A person attending a sideshow fell to their death early Saturday morning while attempting to jump across a gap between freeway ramps in the East Bay suburb of Crockett. More than 200 people attended the event, which consisted of an estimated 150 cars. As KPIX reports, a witness described seeing a group of young spectators hopping between freeway ramps near Interstate 80 and the Carquinez Bridge around 3:30 am Saturday in an effort to get a better view of the sideshow.

People who gather to watch sideshows garnered an unusual legal win, as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals just did donuts all over Alameda County's law saying that it's a crime to even watch a sideshow, and they struck that law down. City governments all over the Bay Area have been grasping at straws for ways they can discourage or prevent sideshows from happening nigh every weekend during the warm-weather months.
