First and foremost, online play has to be improved. Delay-based netcode in fighting games has been rendered obsolete, with virtually every major fighting franchise turning instead to rollback netcode, with incredible results. As impractical as it sounds, a full overhaul of Smash Bros. Ultimate's online environment, and a switch from delay-based netcode to rollback netcode, would need to be included in a Switch 2 Edition.

Nintendo just released an odd little game onto the SNES Virtual Console that was previously exclusive to Japan. The simply-titled Mario & Wario is a point-and-click puzzle game that finds the plumber on the search for his brother after his money-obsessed doppelganger drops a bucket on his head. That's the actual plot. Players lead the bucket-headed Mario through 100 levels, each of which are filled with point-and-click puzzles set in a sidescrolling world.
The Legend of Zelda fans don't have to wait too much longer to return to the world of Tears of the Kingdom. As announced during the September Nintendo Direct, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment launches November 6 exclusively on Switch 2. If you have completed the main story of Bananza, you can actually work for the villain of the story and join his mining company. Doing so unlocks a new mode in which you smash up emeralds as fast as possible.
Nintendo is dropping a slew of Mario-related announcements this morning as part of the franchise's 40th anniversary, including a new game starring his dinosaur companion. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is coming out for Switch 2 in the Spring of 2026 and the brief bit of gameplay we saw plants it squarely in the cutesy yet intriguing tradition of past Yoshi platformers.
From the outside, it's a bit odd that Nintendo allowed this loading-speed dichotomy to exist on the Switch 2 in the first place. NIS America has revealed that Ys X: Proud Nordics will arrive on Switch 2 and PC early next year in the US. The company calls this the definitive edition of the RPG, as it boasts a new storyline, mechanics, and dungeon. Ys X: Proud Nordics launched on Switch 2 last month in Japan. Originally, the RPG came out in 2023 in Japan before NIS America brought Ys X: Nordics to the West in 2024 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.
