Parents in Pickering say they're concerned by the way a series of threats at a local elementary school have been handled by administrators in recent weeks, arguing the school needs to improve its communication and safety measures. William Dunbar Public School was placed in a lockdown on Jan. 27, after a threat made by phone against the school. The lockdown was subsequently lowered to a hold and secure after police arrived and assessed the scene, which was lifted at 2:20 p.m.
A South Dennis man was sentenced on Wednesday after threatening to murder a federal official and their family in March 2025, federal prosecutors said. Michael Mahoney, 64, was sentenced to two years of supervised release with three months of house arrest and must pay a $5000 fine, the office of the U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, Leah Foley, said in a press release.

Monterey police said 53-year-old Sean Klinger called 9-1-1 just after 7 a.m. on Sunday, and said he was trying to sleep, that there were protesters on Del Monte Avenue and that he was going to shoot them. The caller said he was walking down Park Avenue with an AR-style rifle and mentioned the marathon before hanging up. Dispatchers and officers attempted to call the man back, but he did not answer. MARTINEZ - A Concord man in his late 30s has been sentenced to 13 years in state prison for raping a 13-year-old girl, a crime he allegedly tried to cover up by threatening to kill the victim or have her deported. Macario Cucul-Maaz, 39, pleaded no contest to a child rape charge and was sentenced in late June, court records show. He is currently housed at North Kern State Prison.

The National Guard members understood "strapped" to mean that Bryant was armed. Bryant then approached additional National Guard members and "threw his left shoulder" into the left shoulder of one of them, making physical contact, the emergency motion said. The National Guard members told the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., about the confrontations.
