It's been another frighteningly good year for horror fans. Movie theaters still, by far, the best place to enjoy a proper fright night have been absolutely loaded with quality offerings essentially all year. They've come in all sorts of chainsaw-sharp shapes and sizes, from straight-up gorefests and slow-brewing supernatural thrillers to silly-scary sci-fi and disturbingly romantic body horror (if, indeed, there is such a thing). Some of these films were grand cinematic achievements, while others were breathtaking indie-success stories.
One of the best horror films of 2025 is now available on 4K Blu-ray. Weapons, the second feature from Barbarian director Zach Cregger, is in stock for $28 at Amazon and available to ship this week. That last part is key here, as the other three editions of Weapons have quite the estimated wait on launch day (October 14). After being sold out for two months, Weapons Limited Edition Steelbook is back in stock with an eye-watering $59 price.
The Resident Evil movie is due to begin shooting this October in Prague, so it's likely we'll soon learn more about the cast. The film doesn't re-tell any of the game stories but Cregger, who co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten and is directing, said it "lives in the world" of Resident Evil 2 and 3. At the same time, it adheres more to the tone of Resident Evil 4, he said. "I've never seen a movie like it," he added. "I am beyond excited making this," he said.
