Briefly

A fire in Lewisham resulted in the death of 12-year-old Fabian Henry, as family members confirmed. The incident occurred shortly before midnight on July 8, destroying a two-floor flat and affecting another unit and the exterior of the structure. Ten fire engines and about 70 firefighters responded to the scene, bringing the fire under control by 0202. A woman was treated for injuries but they are not life-threatening. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the London Fire Brigade and is currently not deemed suspicious.
"A maisonette split between the ground and first floors was destroyed by the fire. Part of a maisonette split between the second and third floors was damaged by the fire along with a small part of the external fascia of the building."
"We continue to work alongside investigators from the London Fire Brigade to establish the cause of the fire. We understand the impact this will have on the community and there will be local neighbourhood officers, and other emergency services, in the area as enquiries continue."
