Farley's Sloppy Joe's, located in Brooklyn, is the first restaurant in New York dedicated entirely to Sloppy Joes. Opened by Sam Saverance, the eatery features a 1950s diner aesthetic with quick service. Saverance aims to put a creative spin on the nostalgic meal and views the Sloppy Joe as a canvas for experimentation. He is a known figure in the dining scene, previously co-founding New York's first vegan Ethiopian restaurant, Bunna Cafe, but desired an outlet that allowed for more freedom in culinary expression.
Saverance believes that any food can be slopped into a Sloppy Joe, stating, "You can slop anything." This philosophy led him to open Farley's Sloppy Joe's in Brooklyn.
Saverance's mantra is that there’s nothing sacred about the Sloppy Joe sandwich. He describes it as a "goofy" sandwich that has a great personality and really hits.
