Architect Rebecca Benichou describes a private garden in central Paris that attracted her art-collecting clients to a unique two-level apartment. The garden, comparable in size to the apartment, was integral to their choice. Benichou, alongside her creative director Florence Jallet, embarked on their first large renovation which involved transforming an ornate Haussmannian mansion. To highlight the clients' contemporary art collection, they needed to dramatically alter the ostentatious interiors while creating a harmonious, inviting space, stripping away excessive details to create a modern aesthetic.
